i think bittorrent might be the way to go here...
not much harder to setup on each person's PC and then we can still use a Dropbox for posting the actual torrent files
BIG HOWEVER: the drawback is if your main computer is not always on and connectable (that's where Mike's dropbox solution wins)
So after a little more thought...what about Deep's Method #2
If we use Dropbox, i think we employ the model of:
User 1 posts a record in the Dropbox
User 1 posts a comment in an ongoing thread called "New Snacks" with just the album name and "expiration date" (maybe 48 hours?)
User 2 is responsible for copying the album out of the folder to somewhere more permanent (note: COPY not MOVE) if they want it
User 1 removes the album from the temporary Dropbox location at the expiration time
Next user (first come first serve) posts and follows the same process
I think this will save us some disk space, allow us all to participate, and keep it fun and random, like Ivan's videos
